Walking Tour: Black Feminist DC (Part 3)
Explore the history of Black feminism in Washington, DC with the National Women’s History Museum and National Coalition Partner A Tour Of Her Own. Walking Tours: Black Feminist DC are free of charge, though registration is required. Tour routes are mostly outdoors on city sidewalks and indoors on the first floor of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library. Everyone is welcome!
During Part 3, celebrate the culture of the nation’s capital during this seasonal experience recognizing the Black feminist identity of DC. From legendary changemakers like Eleanor Holmes Norton to modern makers and creators, this tour will start at the Navy Memorial with an exploration of historic Pennsylvania Avenue before making a stop at the annual Downtown DC holiday market. Warm up inside the Martin Luther King Library where we’ll host a guided exploration of the NWHM exhibition: We Who Believe in Freedom: Black Feminist DC. This tour will make it’s way along city streets toward the White House, where guests can learn about women like Mary Church Terrell while admiring holiday decor in the heart of the city.
