Walking Tour: Black Feminist DC (Part 2)

Explore the history of Black feminism in Washington, DC with the National Women’s History Museum and National Coalition Partner A Tour Of Her Own. Walking Tours: Black Feminist DC are free of charge, though registration is required. Tour routes are mostly outdoors on city sidewalks and indoors on the first floor of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library. Everyone is welcome!

During Part 2, meet at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library for a guided exploration of We Who Believe in Freedom: Black Feminist DC. Travel through the Gallery Place neighborhood with your professional tour guide to uncover hidden Black feminist history on unassuming street corners and towering downtown buildings. Celebrate the contributions of Mary McLeod Bethune, Dorothy Height, and the legacy of the National Council of Negro Women. Learn about Mary Church Terrell’s push for civil rights and the leadership of DC’s Congresswoman, Eleanor Holmes Norton.
